Asbestos Locations - Where is asbestos found?

Asbestos was added to materials to improve their strength and fire resistance and can often be found in areas associated with these requirements. Generally buildings constructed prior to the year 2000 have a higher probability of containing asbestos. In some instances asbestos within the material can vary in concentration meaning that accurate sampling is required. Asbestos is present in over 3000 materials often making identification difficult. Whilst the asbestos sample kits provide a cost effective means of testing materials they are not a substitute for a survey completed by a qualified industry professional.
